Burst pipe?
A burst pipe can put a lot of water into your home quickly. Here is what to do in the first minutes and how to get a licensed plumber out to you.
In short
- What we do: 305Plumbers is a free referral service. We connect you with one independent, Florida-licensed plumber (CFC or RF). We are not a contractor and do not do the work.
- Who we serve: homeowners, renters and businesses in all of Miami-Dade County, including Miami, Hialeah, Kendall, Doral, Homestead, Miami Beach, Coral Gables, Miami Gardens, North Miami, Cutler Bay and Aventura.
- How it works: call (305) 699-4194 or send a request; we connect you with a plumber who serves your area, and they give you the price before any work. Free for you. English and Spanish.
- We help with: burst pipes, leaks, clogged drains, water heaters, sewer backups, toilets and hidden leaks.
Step 1: Shut off the water
Find your main shut-off valve. In many Miami-Dade homes it is near the water meter by the street or where the main line enters the house. Turn it clockwise until it stops. If only one fixture is leaking, its local valve under the sink or behind the toilet may be enough.
Step 2: Limit the damage
Open a faucet at the lowest point of the house to drain the lines, move valuables away from the water, and take photos for your insurance company.
Step 3: Call a licensed plumber
- Water is still running after you close the valve.
- You cannot find or turn the main valve.
- Water is coming through a ceiling or wall.
- The pipe is inside a slab or wall.
